All c ourses are offered at CERTIFICATE LEVEL. Entry requirements are O' Level of education. Consideration is given to school drop-outs after primary school and Form two. At the end of training (usually 2 years), students are awarded Certificates of Completion. Excellent students are referred to more professional training for Advanced Certificates and/ or Diploma. |
Courses offered at the Eden CentreThe centre seeks to provide short-term (day and residential) practical and result-oriented non-formal education training (vocational and entrepreneurial skills training) to out of school youths (including orphaned children). The courses are specifically designed to provide the student skills needed for self reliance. 1. Sustainable Agriculture and Education: AIM: To give elementary and science based agricultural skills to the young people and members of the community to enable get sufficient food for their families and remain with a surplus for sale (enhance household food security and incomes) Organic farming skills including small-scale livestock keeping, crop/ animal husbandry; Agro-forestry and environmental conservation techniques; Renewable energy technologies; Food processing skills; Market and Product development; Quality control (HACCP)2. Business/ entrepreneurship skills development: AIM: To impart basic knowledge of accounting and booking keeping, project/ business management, administration and industrial management, business planning and basics of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E). Also the course seeks to inculcate in the trainees a spirit of entrepreneurship. Economics; Book keeping and Accounting ; Project planning and management; Modern management and Administration; Marketing and Communication skills; Business management TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL/ POLYTECHNIC TRAINING : AIM: To impart needed vocational skills to equip youths with skills necessary for them to create self employment through commercial trade activities preparing the young people for the World of WORK: Tailoring and dress making; Hotel management and institutional catering; HIV/AIDS education and awareness; Brick laying and concrete Practice; Carpentry and Joinery; Art and textile design; Home economics, cookery and bakery ;Handicraft making and embroidery ;H air dressing; Music, dance and drama ; Mechanics (bicycle and Motor) Information Communication Technologies (ICTS) (Computer Science & tedchnology) AIM: Impart basic computer literacy skills to enable trainees to use Computers and common operations including the following: Basic computer science and technology; Word processing, spread sheets, power point, email and Internet; ICT for Development (ICT4D) |
